Better Jobs Ontario (formerly known as Second Career) is for unemployed individuals for which skills training is the most appropriate intervention to transition them into high-skill, in-demand occupations in the local labour market. Unemployed workers can be active EI claimants, EI Reachback or non-EI eligible. Effective April 29, 2022, the Better Jobs program was expanded to better help people who may face challenges finding stable jobs such as gig workers, youth and people on social assistance. If you have been unemployed for six months or longer, and are part of a low-income household, you may benefit from these changes.
